By India Today Web Desk: Up to 8,000 women, dressed in traditional attire, took part in the International Kullu Dussehra Festival and performed folk dances at Rath Maidan in Kullu on Friday.

The dance is part of the Kullu festivities and women and girls from all over Kullu district voluntarily participate in the performance.

Kullu Dussehra Festival is an internationally renowned fair celebrated in the month of October in Himachal Pradesh.

The festivities begin on ‘Vijaya Dashmi’ and continue for seven days.

The International Kullu Dussehra Festival will be celebrated from October 5 to 11 at the Dhalpur Ground in Kullu. The event is unique in that it is the congregation of worshipers of over 300 valley deities.

Prime Minister Narendra Modi attended the historic Dussehra festival in Kullu in Himachal Pradesh on Wednesday. This is the first time the Prime Minister has taken part in Kullu Dussehra celebrations.
