Blue Rodeo added to the Mariposa Folk Festival lineup



The Mariposa Folk Festival announced today that legendary Canadian band Blue Rodeo have been added to their already stellar lineup.

In the 35 years since its inception, Blue Rodeo has sold over four million albums, received dozens of nominations and Juno Awards, played over 2,000 shows, been inducted into the Canadian Music Hall of Fame , received a star on Canada’s Walk of Fame, were appointed to the Order of Canada and received the Governor General’s Award for the Performing Arts.

And they are still going strong with the recent release of their 16and album, many thousand.

The Mariposa Folk Festival is set to return to Tudhope Park in Orillia, July 8-10, and recent lineup announcements from Blue Rodeo and The Strumbellas add to a standout roster of performers that includes Mavis Staples, Serena Ryder, Lennon Stella, JP Saxe, Allison Russell, Kathleen Edwards, Blackie and the Rodeo Kings and many more.

Liz Scott, Artistic Director of the Mariposa Folk Foundation, said, “It will be fun to celebrate a Mariposa reunion this summer with Blue Rodeo, a nationwide favorite. We can’t wait.

The Mariposa Folk Festival was founded in Orillia in 1961. Over the decades, it has found a way to remain the most relevant and essential musical gathering in Canada. The festival was canceled in 2020 and 2021 due to COVID-19.

The three-day Mariposa Folk Festival features more than 10 stages of the best folk music, along with presentations of stories, dance and crafts.

All categories of tickets are on sale. Children 12 and under are admitted free. The festival offers special rates for youth and young adults. A motorhome and a camping tent are available on site.
