The International Kullu Dussehra festival kicked off last week with a traditional Rath Yatra. After a two-year hiatus induced by the pandemic, festivals across the country are celebrated with grandeur and posts about the festivities on social media are numerous. As week-long celebrations continue in Himachal Pradesh, a video featuring thousands of women performing folk dances has surfaced online.

The clip shared by news agency ANI shows women dressed in traditional clothing performing a folk dance in unison. Against the backdrop of traditional music, thousands of women wearing ethnic jewelry circle around and dance.

According to ANI’s tweet, around 8,000 women attended the performance at Rath Maidan in Kullu. Since being shared on Saturday, the clip has amassed over 10,800 views on Twitter.

According to a report by PTI, Kullu Dussehra begins after the end of Dussehra celebrations in other parts of the country. Unlike other places, there is no Ramlila or burning of effigies. The festival begins on Vijaya Dashami, the 10th day of the rising moon and continues for seven days.
