Kutztown Folk Festival announces in-person return in July

After a two-year hiatus and a two-week mini-festival last fall, the Kutztown Folk Festival returns to its most authentic form this summer.

The festival will kick off July 2 and run through July 10 at the Kutztown Fairgrounds, according to a festival press release, after operating virtually for the past two summers due to COVID-19[female[feminine. With daily entertainment on five different stages as well as the typical food and fun that the festival brings, the week of folklore and folk music will be a great comeback for one of the first summer festivals in the valley of Lehigh.

After its two-year absence, the festival returned last October with Fall Fest on Main, a scaled-down two-week folk celebration in Kutztown, which quenched the annual folk festival’s thirst for the time being.

But the real festival will be back this summer, Kutztown’s first full folk festival under new festival director Heather Zimmerman.

“We are thrilled to welcome people back to the fairgrounds for the 2022 Kutztown Folk Festival,” Zimmerman said in the statement. “We’re committed to honoring our rich Pennsylvania Dutch heritage, and we’re also excited to start new traditions.”

New additions to the festival include the Fresh Fest Market, which will feature healthy food, local craft beers and specialty cocktails made with local ingredients.

Fall Fest will also be back in some capacity, with a few events on the October schedule including a farm-to-table dinner And one square dance party.
