Bombay: Weightlifter Mirabai Chanu asked megastar Amitabh Bachchan to perform the Manipuri Thabal Chongba folk dance with her on ‘Kaun Banega Crorepati 14’.
2022 Commonwealth Games gold medalist boxer Nikhat Zareen and weightlifter Chanu took the lead on the show.
During the game, Big B asked them a question about traditional dance performances in Yaoshang Festival (a five-day festival celebrated in spring) in Manipur and Chanu being from the same state knew about the answer and she chose the correct one. option which is Thabal Chongba.
Later, she taught him the dance steps to perform with her and Nikhat. She asked Bachchan, “There’s a small request if you could join me on stage for a few steps.”
Big B also asked the sports personalities about the strict diet they follow while training and Mirabai told him she loves pizza, “I love pizza so much but I have to avoid it.” Nikhat said she is a big foodie and often misses Hyderabadi biryani.
Also, at Zareen’s request, he delivered the famous dialogue “Rishtey mein to hum tumhare baap lagte hai” from his 1988 film “Shahenshah” in Hyderabadi.
She said: “Please say the iconic dialogue, ‘Rishtey mein to hum tumhare baap lagte hai’ in Hyderabadi’
Bachchan laughed and replied, “You asked me to do something wrong because I’m not your father first and I don’t know this language but if you say so, I’ll follow you.”
He also recreated the scene from his hit 1990 film “Agneepath” at Chanu’s request. He performed his character Vijay Deenanath Chauhan, saying the line: “Vijay Deenanath Chauhan, baap ka naam Dinanath Chauhan, umar 36 saal, 9 mahina, 8 din aur ye 16 ghante chaalu hai’.
