The Derby Folk Festival is back for its 16e year and will dance and sing to Derby Market Place, The Old Bell Hotel and Derby Cathedral between From Friday 30 September to Sunday 2 October. This year’s festival promises to be another great event, jam-packed with folkloric goodness for music lovers across the country.

They shared the following with us:

In association with Bob On Arts, we bring you the music of many talented folk artists throughout the weekend. Friday night will see Treacle Town Dance Group and winter wilson in the Old Bell Hotel while the capital of the Place du Marché (Le Mick Peat Stage) will have concerts by Lady Nade and The sound of sirens, – presented by the local festival sponsor, Lucy Ward. Friday afternoon will also see From pub to pulpit at Derby Cathedral; a celebration of Ralph Vaughan Williams’ 150e anniversary – tickets for this event can be purchased separately and cost just £5 when added to a weekend ticket, or £12 before July 31 with the early bird offer.

Giving you the weekend vibe on Saturday is Marc Bloc which will kick off the day, as well as our various Fringe music events in the Old Bell Ballroom. Later in the day, Old Sea Legs, Granny’s Attic, The Carrivick Sisters, The Pitmen Poets, Janice Burns & Jon Doran, Hannah Sanders & Ben Savage and Bob Fox and Billy Mitchell go through the different stages. Saturday festivities will end with headliners Arrows and Boden on The Mick Peat Stage.

The last day of the festival, Sunday October 2 will see a second chance to see Janice Burns and Jon Doran; this time at The Old Bell Ball Room. The highly anticipated show about Nell Gwynne – “Nelly” with Robb Johnson and Winter Wilson will be presented on the Mick Peat Stage with Jez Lowe, Narthen and headliners Kathryn Roberts and Sean Lakeman. Elsewhere there will be a second chance to see Old Sea Feet, as good as Robb Johnson at the Old Bell Ballroom. Baggaley & Varnam will perform on both stages.

If you liked a particular day, we now offer you individual day tickets for the festival. Adult tickets cost £20 for Friday night or £40 for Saturday or Sunday. Concessions for Saturday and Sunday tickets are £20 for under 16s and under 5s are free. If we’ve enticed you to try out the whole festival, weekend tickets are also available for £85 until the end of July. Concessions are available with family tickets.

In addition to the early bird discount for customers who buy their Folk Festival weekend tickets before July 31, everyone who does will be entered into a raffle, with the winner getting a ticket price refund! These prices are automatically applied at checkout and will change to full price after July 31st. The early bird offer means weekend tickets are currently £85 for adults and family tickets are £200 – children’s tickets are the same price.

Tickets are now on sale online at derbylive.co.uk or from our Sales and Information Centre, which can be contacted by telephone on 01332 255800 or visited in person at Riverside Chambers, Full Street, Derby.

The fringe events, supported by Cathedral Quarter, will spill onto the streets of the city in the form of many different song and dance artists.
